Starter Crag has 9 routes, from 5.4 to 5.11a; 6 are harder.

First ascent: EB: Tom Raether, FA: Lizzy Justice

Description

Climb the dihedral crack on the left side of the crag. There is a variation (maybe 5.10c/d) that goes off to the right after 5 bolts. It has its own bolted anchor that is just 2 bolts, no chains or mussy hooks. However, there is a set of mussy hooks about 2 meters to the right that must be the top of a different climb.

Location

left of the central nose feature

Protection

9 draws to mussy hooks. The harder variation takes 10-11 draws.

Access

Parts of the range are the Mt. Charleston Wilderness, where motorized equipment isn't allowed: no power drills. Dogs must be leashed at trailheads. Campfires are banned year-round within a mile of homes in Kyle and Lee Canyons, and the Forest Service adds seasonal fire restrictions in summer, so check before you go.
